Miss Michelle Vane-Tempest

Michelle has been dancing for over 40 years studying Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Tap. Michelle has completed all major exams in Classical Ballet (ATOD and BBO), Jazz and Tap & holds Associate Teaching level with the Australian Teachers of Dancing in Classical Ballet Jazz and Tap. Michelle has been teaching for over 28 years, 27 years being the principal Teacher of Michelle Maree’s School of Dance. Michelle's students have won many places at Eisteddfods in both Solo and Group dances, and consistently achieve high marks in their yearly examinations. She has had numerous students continue their passion for dance through full-time dance opportunities and professional works. Michelle has had a great passion over the years in training students to become caring and knowledgeable teachers. Many have gone on to be full time teachers and now contribute their knowledge and passion of dance.

Miss Kate Vane-Tempest

Kate has been with Michelle Maree’s for 20 years and has been teaching for the last 6 years. Kate completed her full-time dance course with Ev & Bow in 2011, where she performed in a variety shows and events. Kate joined Twisted Element Dance Company in 2012 and performed with them for 2 years, taking on the role of assistant choreographer and becoming lead soloist in her second season with the company. Kate is studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Newcastle University, with the intention of going into Physiotherapy specialising in Dance. Kate’s passion for contemporary grows further each year and this year she will be taking Intermediate and Senior Contemporary classes as well as Junior and Senior Ballet classes.

Miss Cassie Vane-Tempest

Cassie has been with MMSOD for the last 24 years and has been teaching for the last 7 years. Cassie completed a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Primary Education in 2012 at Newcastle University. Cassie is now a qualified primary school teacher working at St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School where she has also had experience in choreographing for the Primary School Competition Wakakirri. Cassie has experience choreographing and coordinating school musicals, Christmas Concerts and School Dance Troupe. We look forward to Cassie sharing her passion for Musical Theatre with our Sub Junior, Junior and Intermediate grades. Cassie is also so excited to be teaching the Ladies Jazz class on Thursdays.

Miss Olivia Walsh

Olivia has grown up in the life of dance leading her to peruse a career in the dance industry. From an early age, Olivia jumped into every style of dance offered, growing up with the versatility to love it all! She has a strong work ethic with successfully completing all ballet and tap exams. In 2016, Olivia trained at Brent Street in Sydney completing her certificate IV in Dance learning from the industries finest mentors and choreographers. This year Olivia is perusing her love of teaching whilst studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Newcastle. Olivia will be taking the Senior Contemporary and Technique classes this year.

Miss Lara Coffey

Lara has been dancing with MMSOD for 14 years, starting when she was 8 years old. She participated in all styles of dance and represented MMSDO in the elite level troupe dances. As she grew and developed her love for dancing, Lara found her greatest joy in the Jazz and Hip Hop classes which continues to this day. Lara is currently studying a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Journalism at the University of Newcastle. Lara is going on to her 5th year with the teaching team and embraces and encourages students to find their love for jazz as she teaches them her favourite style of dance.

Miss Molly Cox

Molly discovered her love of dance at the early age of 2 years old. Since then she has perused her passion for dance through Michelle Maree’s where she learnt the foundations of Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary. When her family moved to England, Molly continued her Ballet education, training in the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet syllabus, where she excelled, receiving distinctions within her examinations. Molly returned to Australia and Michelle Maree’s in 2012 and joined the teaching faculty in 2015. Molly is currently studying Radiation Therapy at the University of Newcastle. Molly continues to share her passion for dance through her Sub-Junior and Junior Ballet and Jazz classes.

Miss Hayley Vane-Tempest

Hayley has been dancing at Michelle Maree’s since the age of two and has studied Classical Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary dance. She has been an active member of the MMSOD eisteddfod troupes, where she has been a part of many winning elite teams. Hayley studied dance for her HSC and was awarded 1st place in the diocese for her overall mark. Hayley is currently studying a Bachelor of Secondary Education, where she is majoring in Ancient History and Drama. This year Hayley is teaching Beginner, Junior and Intermediate Contemporary.

Miss Hana Fisher

Hana started dancing when she was 6 years old, sharing her love of dancing and gymnastics over the 12 years she has been with MMSOD. Hana has trained in all styles of dance but has found her passion in her contemporary and jazz classes. During her gymnastics training Hana began to share her knowledge with other young students from the age of 12, where she was a beginner coach, eventually working as an elite coach at 16yrs old. In 2010 Hana took a year off dancing to focus on her gymnastics, where she competed at the Australian Institute of Sport in State and National Championships where she placed 1st in Bars and 2nd in Beam. Hana retired from gymnastics at level 8 to focus on coaching and continues to share her passion with her students at MMSOD. Hana is an active member of MMSOD elite troupe and when she finishes school would love to continue dancing and coaching gymnastics while studying.
